Tunnels & Trolls : Gristlegrim Room 201--The Stone Tiger Room

This is one of Gristlegrim's standard rooms--100 feet cubical. Taking up most of the space in the room is a huge statue of a tiger carved from an immense block of sandstone with the stripes and markings painted on. The statue is 50 feet high and 90 feet long from jaws to tip of tail. The statue is not alive, and will not come to life. The eyes are huge tiger eye gems. The head of the tiger is about 20 feet in the air. The mouth is slightly open--enough for a man to slide between the teeth and enter it.

The tiger's throat is a secret passage leading to the tiger's stomach which is a smaller room about 8 feet wide, 6 feet tall, and 10 feet long. There is a polished ebony sphere in the stomach, and it can be opened by pulling the top half off. Inside the sphere is a random treasure of 8 jewels from the Random jewel generator. Once the jewels have been taken, the random treasure will not reappear until a new party has entered the room. The secret passage is very slippery and cannot be climbed back up by normal means, but anyone with the forethought to use a rope could get out of it easily enough.

The tiger's jaws are also a trap. Anyone trying to go between the teeth must make a L2SR on Luck to avoid activating a trap making the jaws snap shut and then open again. The jaws will do 10D6 worth of damage on anyone who springs the trap.

This room has sliding doors on the north, and east walls, requiring strengths of 24 and 18 to open.
