Tunnels & Trolls Fantasy Role Playing Game : Gristlegrim's Monsters Ghouls

The ghoul is a form of ape, looking and behaving rather like a baboon, but hairless and with a much nastier jaw--huge fangs and tushes. The skin is leprous white, and ghouls hate sunlight. They have mole-like claws on both front and rear feet. Fingers and toes are well-articulated and can be used to grip and manipulate objects just like hands do. They exude a foul, rotting odor, which comes from their food or choice; namely, foul, rotting dead bodies. They like to kill their own prey, and then hang it someplace to ripen before eating it, but they are just as happy to rip open a grave, and lunch upon the cadaver they find. Some ghouls wear loincloths or belts, and may have tools such as knives or digging implements attached. They are intelligent, and can speak the common tongue as well as their own barking language. Both male and female ghouls roam together in packs of up to 10 creatures. They come in different sizes depending on the level of the monsters which range from level one to level three. Higher level ghouls could exist, but they wouldn't be any larger than the third level creatures--just tougher and smarter with higher monster ratings.

Level 1 Monster rating 28. About 5 feet tall if you could make it stand erect.
Level 2 Monster rating 42. About 6 feet tall if you could make it stand erect.
Level 3 Monster rating 56. ABout 7 feet tall if you could make it stand erect.
Level 4 Monster rating 70. ABout 8 feet tall if you could make it stand erect.
Level 5 Monster rating 84. ABout 9 feet tall if you could make it stand erect.
Level 6 Monster rating 98. ABout 10 feet tall if you could make it stand erect.

The T & T rules list stat multipliers for ghouls if you wish to personalize them. Ghoulish senses are supernaturally acute, so much so, that it hurts them to appear in daylight or in crowded cities--you wouldn't find one joining a party of adventurers, at least not for long.

The inspiration for T & T ghouls comes chiefly from the story "Pickman's Model" by H.P. Lovecraft.
